Justice Replaced By Revenge took the members of Ringworm four years to complete; sounds like they put in the time to get the recipe just right. This band is originally from Cleveland, Ohio and keeps true to the sub-genre of 'clevo style' or the more aptly titled 'clevocore.' Ringworm formed in 1991, then released The Promise in 1993 and Birth Is Pain in 2001. This group seems to be an every-other-album band, striking gold only after a disappointment, i.e. Birth Is Pain. Justice Replaced By Revenge is definitely one of their "on" albums.
Front man, Human Furnace (or HF), is the driving force with ripping vocals and plenty of anger to go around. Each of the 13 songs builds upon the next, becoming more intense as the album plays. Metal fans may be pleasantly surprised by this hardcore album, which is filled with drumming that may generate migraines or the occasional busted fill-in-the-blank.
The instrumental "Whiskey Drunk" is only 1 min and 29 seconds, so get ready to put your player on repeat. Other than this, there's not much to be said about the variations in this album, of which there are very few. The lyrics are angry and cathartic, but unattached, (though hardcore doesn't normally dwell on the lyrics.) HF says that "the vocals weren't written for a long time after the songs were originally tracked," and perhaps this was a mistake.
Justice Replaced By Revenge doesn't parade to be anything it's not, so if you're looking for a 30-minute rock-out release, play this one as loud as possible.
